Dubai Metro was successfully introduced by erco in 2009 in collaboration with the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA). The Dubai Metro is the world’s longest completely automatic driverless train system and the first urban rail transportation system on the Arabian Peninsula. It is situated in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). With trains running at 99.9% punctuality today, the service permits approximately 200 million passenger travels annually.

Serco successfully negotiated an extension to the initial five-year contract in October 2013, and it was then extended to 2021 in order to support Expo2020. The Red Line of the Dubai Metro is extended by 15 kilometers via Route 2020, which connects 7 stops. It has 2 underground stations, 3 elevated stations, and 1 interchange station at the landmark Jebal Ali Station on the Expo 2020 grounds.

The largest station in the Dubai Metro extension project is Expo 2020. Millions of people are anticipated to attend the event, and the great majority will travel there via Route 2020 of the Dubai Metro. The extension will provide service to areas with a high concentration of people, including The Gardens, Discovery Gardens, Al Furjan, Jumeirah Golf Real Estates, Dubai Investment Park, and the Expo 2020 site, where 270,000 people live and work. For inhabitants of many Dubai neighbourhoods as well as visitors to Expo 2020, Route 2020 is planned to offer secure and convenient transportation. In the future, it will also act as a crucial link between the suburbs of Dubai and Al Maktoum International Airport.

About 90 Emiratis working in customer service and operational jobs will receive Level 2 NVQ certification thanks to permission from Serco from City & Guilds UK. In prior years, Serco reached a number of significant Emiratisation-related goals, including our aim of 210 UAE Nationals working across the Dubai Metro contract. In 2019, Serco had 80 part-time posts filled and conducted 26 open days and assessments in collaboration with MOHRE, Medyaf and HCT. As a result, we were awarded the prestigious “Strategic Partners Award” by HCT Dubai and HCT Sharjah.
